The Sargeant Memorial Hall Brafield on the Green is very fortunate to have been given a very pleasant and useful village hall by Miss Eveline Sargeant in memory of her brother Charles Sargeant. It was built in 1955, and has been brought up to date as funds have allowed: a process which is ongoing. It is situated in Church Lane and has a Car Park accommodating 12 to 15 cars.
The hall offers a main room measuring 45 x 26 feet and is 10ft. high, a modern recently refitted kitchen, with electric cooker, microwave cooker, electric kettles, fridge, extensive work surfaces and a serving hatch through to the main hall; also a small room, 12 x 7ft. and ladies’ and gentlemen’s toilets. The polished wooden parquet floor of the main hall attracts many favourable comments.
There are twelve 5ft. tables, one hundred chairs and a piano
The adjacent grassy area is very suitable for barbecues, children’s games, bouncy castles or even just sitting and enjoying a pleasant summer evening.
Present regular bookings include:-
Short Mat Bowls: Three 2-hour sessions per week
Yoga Classes: Two 1½ hour sessions per week.
Upholstery Classes: Three classes per week.
Parish Council Meetings: Six per year, (open to the public).
In addition it is used for functions such as parties, and wedding receptions.
The Annual Flower Festival takes place here and in the Church in June, and the Harvest Supper and the Christmas Bazaar later in the year.
The Sargeant Memorial Hall provides a friendly venue within the village of Brafield, and is available for hire by individuals, clubs or groups for meetings, classes, private parties, etc., at very competitive rates.
